About Breasfeeding

You waited for your baby to be born healthy and here comes the moment… The sound of your baby crying, your first touch, taking in their scent. Such special and precious moments.

The birth has happened, and you immediately want to feed your baby, touch them, and enjoy this beautiful experience. Oops… Although we expect breastfeeding and milk production to start right away after birth, it often doesn’t happen spontaneously. Many mothers face difficulties in the first few hours, weeks, or even months of this exciting new journey. As someone who had a hard time with breastfeeding, I want to say that YES, BREASTFEEDING IS NOT EASY!! Fortunately, there are methods that make this journey easier.

But first, let’s talk about why breast milk is important.

Why is breast milk important? Breast milk plays a crucial role in the newborn’s adaptation from life in the womb to life in the world. It protects the newborn from infections and provides optimal growth and development. Additionally, the composition of breast milk changes according to the newborn’s needs, meeting the baby’s physiological and psychosocial needs alone in the first six months. It is also economical for the family and the country, making breast milk the ideal food during infancy. The benefits of breastfeeding extend beyond the period of exclusive breastfeeding, laying the foundations for healthy living and playing a key role in the programming of child and adult health. Moreover, in addition to its positive effects on maternal health, it serves as a means of interaction in mother-baby bonding.

Common breastfeeding issues:

• Low milk supply • Nipple sores • Hyperlactation • Mastitis • Blocked ducts

In my next post, I will address these issues.

Wishing you abundant milk, a well-fed baby, and peace of mind…
